Our pilgrimage to the Holy Land was a marvelous experience for 51 pilgrims under the spiritual direction of Fr. Trevor Burfitt and accompanied by Fr. Johannes Grun, Fr. Christopher Danel, 2 brothers, Brs. Gabriel and Rene, and Sr. Marie Marcel, while the pilgrims ranged from the ages of 18 to 87.
Some 35 pilgrims walked from Jericho to St. Georges Koziba Monastery through the desert reminiscent of the Desert Fathers. We renewed our Baptismal promises where Our Lord was baptized by St. John the Baptist on the Jordan River, and some couples renewed their wedding vows at
Cana.
We hiked up Mt. Temptation and Mt. Tabor, had Mass on the Mount of Beatitudes, and sailed on the Lake of Galilee (though we did not catch St. Peter’s fish, we experienced how the locals live).
We followed Our Lord’s life from Bethlehem to Nazareth, and from Jerusalem to Golgotha, all returned spiritually uplifted.
Back by great demand, we will have our 4th annual Lenten Holy Land Pilgrimage in February 2008, from February 14 – 25, which will include a visit to the ancient city of Petra, Mt. Tebo and more!
